The Professional Association of Wilderness Guides and Instructors (PAWGI) is a not-for-profit organization that offers several certification programs, starting with the Certified Assistant Guide level. Upon earning the Certified Assistant Guide certification, candidates become elligible for the Certified Wilderness Guide certification, and ultimately, all PAWGI remaining certification levels.

PAWGI certifications are valid for life, as long as holders renew their certification every year, comply with all PAWGI standards and regulations, and continue to meet basic elligibility and currency requirements.
